The greatest population decrease among Honam local governments
In recent 10 years, 35,610 people left… 3.5 times more than Jeonju

According to a recent survey “Population changes in Honam and Jeju,” which was conducted by the Honam Census Bureau, the population of Iksan recorded the highest population decline among Hanam’s 43 cities, goons, and gues.
It is especially shocking to know that Iksan’s population decline is 3.5 times higher than that of Jeonju which has the bigger population. A population decline occurs when people who leave the area is greater than those who move into the area.
In the survey, it shows that the population of the Jeonbuk area has declined steadily.
Except for the year of 2011 and 2014, cities and goons all recorded decrease in the past 10 years. 35,610 People left Iksan, 16,872 from Gumjae and 13,284 moved from Namwon. However, only 10,174 people left Jeonju and 5630, Gunsan.
Since 2007, both cities population has increased every year. On the other hand, Iksan saw an increase in the population in 2011 (1763 people), but saw a sharp decrease last year.
The population decline is the greatest in Gwangju (5), Jeonnam (22), Jeonbuk(14), and Jeju (2) among the total 43 cities. Each of the governments of Yeosu, Gwangju, Seogu and Gwangju Bukgu recorded more than 30,000 in the population decline.
There is no population influx in the Jeonbuk area, and Gwangju Gwangsan and Jeonnam Muan are the only cities that recorded a population increase.
