To take pictures of the polar regions is no small feat.
Wansoo Kim (60, CEO of IRIS Spreaders, Co.) has gotten nationwide attention for his calendar with breathtaking pictures of polar regions.
Among 10,000 pictures of Arctic animals and majestic scenery from the coldest parts of the world, 12 images are featured in “Polar Calendar 2014.”
Kim has a remarkable ability to show a visual wonder of the region.
He photographed the habitats of penguins and polar bears and the effects of global warming on the region.
Major news media are very impressed by his works saying it is hard for even seasoned professional photographers to get these kind of shots.
One of them offered a business deal with Kim.
According to Kim, he sent his calendar to the president and got a phone call from one of the presidential secretary thanking him and saying he would surely give it to the president.
“I hope these beautiful pictures can be used as a tool to raise awareness on climate change and its disastrous environmental effects on polar regions,” Kim said. “I was surprised to get so much attention. I would love to take more pictures of North Pole and I am planning to photograph four seasons of Iksan and make another calendar with those images.”
Kim will soon be on his way back to North Pole for three weeks. He promised to let people know about Iksan and Iksan Seodong Festival.
