Chunpo Police branch under Iksan Police station (Senior Superintendent YooIn Na) has recently reported good news.
One of their members Inspector SeungWook Oh has been helping a 13 year-old teen who lives only with her grandfather.
Inspector Oh came across Kim and the grandfather JungSun Kim last March and he gladly purchased 40 kg of rice out of his pocket.
He delivered it to the family and he has been helping them ever since.
He found out that Kim did not have any books other than her textbooks, so he bought a series of Korean literature for kids, which consist of 57 books and costs 700,000 won and Korea’s heroes which consist of 24 books and costs 200,000 won and gave them to Kim as a present.
He also posted Kim and her grandfather’s story on his SNS site.
He wrote that he was looking for people who could help them.
Many people throughout the country read the story and wanted to help Kim and her grandfather.
New books and used books poured in to Chunpo Police branch and were delivered to Kim on the 10th.
A preacher BoRam Kim in the Ansan DongSan Church sent 90 books and told them that they would like to buy her middle and high school uniforms.
EuJung Cho who sent some notes and 13 e-books plans to donate sanitary napkins.
This is not all.
Inspector Oh took the matter further.
He discussed Kim’s story with the school and some government agencies in order to help the family.
The head of Chunpo Myun WonSeop Jeong and the head of the school will find a way to build a house for Kim’s family and ask for help from the government.
Inspector Oh said, “I was really impressed with the kindness of everyone in the community. It feels good to share what we have with the less fortunate and it warms my heart to know there are so many people who are willing to help others.”
He also added that he is really grateful for everybody.
He has been donating to charities and civil organizations for 15 years.
