Iri girls’ high school’s club Hyonuri is keeping up the good work.

They won Chunbuk Governor’s award and they won the ministry of health award on October 24th for promoting filial devotion culture.

The reason why the club is doing such an amazing job is because of JiYoon Han’s excellent leadership and the active participation of the 12 members.

The club was form with the students who are belong to the school’s RCY team. They volunteer at the Wonkwang nursing home twice a month on Saturday.

Ha said, “our teachers and seniors ask new students if they are interested in volunteering. They tell kids about Hyonuri because we are doing many different things. There are a lot of students who are interested in our activities.”

Hyonuri ran a campaign on Filial Duty to their peers along with their usual volunteer activities. The students were asked how much they knew about their ancestors.

It was a fun activity for everyone. “We asked students if there are any famous people in history in their family so we can really know about ourselves. We found out how much they didn’t know about their own family and where they came from through the campaign,” Han explained.

This is not all. They wrote essays and poems based on their experiences.

They kept a thorough record of their activities since last March. The works and good record keeping got the the award. “We were just so surprised to win this award.

We want to thank our advisor SooKyung Kim the social welfare worker,” Han added.

“I would like to be a kind older sister to the club members and I think they will keep up the good work after I graduate,” said Han.

Hyonuri donated some of the award money to Wonkwang Nursing Home.
