He is only 25 years old but he developed a way to extract substance that can be used for cosmetic products using cattle byproduct. He won the Agriculture ministry medal for his great work on November 11th.

He started his company, B&B, in 2012. While he was studying abroad, he thought a lot about how to improve domestic livestock industry. He said, “I met a lot of people abroad and learned a lot. I just wanted to apply my knowledge to the real world and have my own business.”

Even though he is young, he has a lot of experience working part time at research centers and farms. He started working towards his dream. He started his own company and start developing technology he thinks would be useful. He patented the process of extracting heparin from a pig and the process of casing sausages using pig’s intestines this year.

Heparin is a substance that keeps the blood from coagulating, which is used for renal failure patients when they take dialysis. The only source of Heparin before was from China even though there are 36,000 patients who undergo regular dialysis. Park said that it is an essential substance for many patients who are suffering from renal failure and he wanted to find a way to extract it more cleanly and safely.

He added, “we are just importing all the heparin that we produce since we don’t have infrastructure to distribute and manufacture heparin product, but we’re planning to build the infrastructure soon.”

The other patent involves making sausages. Normally the companies that make sausages just use imported or artificial sausage casings because it is hard to produce. His casing technology is very safe and clean so big food processing companies express their interest. He also found a way to get rid of pig hair and nails.

 Because of his hard work, Park won the certificate of National Quality Management and a written recognition from the ministry of ICT and future planning.  B&B has earned 5 hundred million won last year and Park expects their earnings go up to 100 hundred million won next year.

“It feels great to actually apply what I know to the real world. I will do my best to incorporate my knowledge and skills to the local cattle farming industry,” Park added.
